Aftercare semi permanent makeup is a very important step in the healing process.
Please remember that the colour will be up to 50% darker immediately after your treatment. Lips up to 70% darker. It will start to lighten up after the first week. The true healed colour will not come through until 4 – 6 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of the skin. There is a risk of cold sores for semi permanent lips and using anti-viral medicine is rerecommended.
Ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling.
Keep hair away from the treated area.
It usually takes seven to ten days before the treated area is fully recovered after your semi permanent procedure. Immediately after the procedure there may be a very small amount of fluid so that the treated area resembles a graze. We will provide you with an anti-bacterial soap to cleans the area and a special healing cream to use as a moisturiser on the treated area. This balm can be applied a couple of times a day. The area must be kept clean and dry at all times during your healing time. Avoid saunas and heavy sweating during the first week. Be careful when you wash your hair by not standing directly in the water spray. Applying a thick layer of the after care cream before washing your hair will protect the area from getting wet. If a few drops runs over the area, it will be absolute fine as the after cream is a barrier cream and the water will just roll of the area. Use a clean facial tissue to pat the treated area dry after you washed your hair. Aways wash your hands before applying the after care balm. We recommend using a gentle facial cleanser t0 wash your face.
Tiny scabs will form as the area starts to dry out. Do not pick or rub of these scabs and leave them to fall of naturally. If the scabs comes off prematurely, they will take the pigment with them which will give a slightly uneven result. Some itching is normal. Do not pick or scratch the treated area. After eyeliner treatments the eye lashes might stick together and the eye lids will appear red and puffy.
Do not apply makeup until 72 hours after the treatment.
If you had a lip treatment, avoid eating spicy or salty foods as this will sting.
Avoid kissing in the fist week for infection control while you are healing.
We will provide you with after care instructions to take home with you for optimal healing results.
Aftercare semi permanent makeup: colour boost treatment
We recommend a colour boost treatment 4 – 8 weeks after the original cosmetic tattooing treatment. Another 7 days of aftercare semi permanent makeup is needed for the second phase.
Permanent makeup is a low maintenance treatment, not a no-maintenance treatment. A 18 month colour boost is recommended to keep your tattoo looking fresh and in good condition. To avoid pigment fading out too quickly, avoid excessive sun exposure and skin lightening products on the treatment area.
If you are planning a MRI scan, chemical peel or any laser treatments, please inform your practitioner that you had permanent cosmetics.
You can not donate blood for 4 months post-procedure.
If you are planning anti-aging injectables or cosmetic surgery, please remember that these procedures can alter the shape of your semi permanent makeup.
If you are not feeling 100% healthy it may take longer for your treatment to heal.
